Carson Rehkopf Death, Obituary, Death – A tragic multi-vehicle crash in Kendall County, Illinois, has resulted in the deaths of three people, including a 4-year-old child, while a Sugar Grove man now faces multiple DUI-related charges in connection with the collision.
According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. Friday on Illinois Route 71 near Walker Road in Millbrook.
Investigators allege that Carson M. Rehkopf, 22, of Sugar Grove, was driving southbound when he attempted to pass several vehicles before colliding head-on with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction. The initial impact led to a chain-reaction crash involving a total of four vehicles.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance and secure the area. Tragically, Amy L. Witter, 38, of Des Moines, Iowa, who was riding in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other occupants of the SUV were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Authorities later confirmed that James Witter, 65, of Des Moines, and a 4-year-old girl also died from injuries sustained in the collision. Officials have not publicly released the child’s identity.
The Illinois State Police said Carson Rehkopf has been charged with multiple DUI-related offenses. The charges are allegations, and the case will proceed through the judicial process. Authorities have not announced any final determination regarding criminal liability, and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
