Dylan Roberts Swimming Accident NC, Daniel Roberts Death Obituary -Father and Son Dies in Ocean Off Coast

The communities of Lenoir, North Carolina, and Holden Beach are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Daniel Jason Roberts, 46, and his son, Dylan Daniel Roberts, 20, who died following a swimming incident in the Atlantic Ocean off Holden Beach.

The father and son were identified by authorities on Monday, August 3, after the tragic incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, August 2, along the 1100 block of Ocean Boulevard West.

According to the Holden Beach Police Department, Brunswick County emergency communications received a report at approximately 9:43 a.m. that two adults were in distress in the ocean. Emergency responders, including police officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, marine patrol units, and the United States Coast Guard, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

First responders administered advanced life-saving measures after bringing both individuals from the water. Despite their efforts, Daniel Roberts and Dylan Roberts could not be revived and were pronounced deceased.

In a public statement, the Holden Beach Police Department expressed appreciation to the numerous agencies that assisted with the emergency response, including the Tri-Beach Fire Department, Brunswick County Emergency Medical Services, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Communications and Marine Patrol, Civietown Fire Department, the United States Coast Guard, and Novant Health AirLink.

The Town of Holden Beach also extended its condolences, stating that its thoughts and prayers are with the Roberts family and everyone affected by the tragedy.

At the time of the incident, Brunswick County beaches were under a red flag warning, indicating dangerous surf conditions and a high risk of rip currents. Red flag warnings are issued to alert swimmers that entering the water can be extremely hazardous due to powerful currents capable of pulling even experienced swimmers away from shore.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the father and son becoming distressed in the water. The incident remains under review as officials continue gathering information.
